Union County saw snowy weather Wednesday morning, and with it a slew of vehicle crashes.
According to Union County Sheriff’s Office reports, the only injury crash was on Route 347 east of Liberty Road at 4:49 p.m., and involved intoxicated driving. It involved a 1999 Toyota Corolla that lost control, drove off the road, rolled over and hit a utility pole.
The driver, Michael E. Denzel, 55, of Fairborn, was cited for driving under the influence and under suspension. He was taken to Memorial Hospital.
While there was only one injury crash, crashes that damaged property kept coming throughout the day.
At about 1:40 a.m. a 2014 Honda Civic lost control and hit a utility pole. The pole then hit a 1997 Toyota Camry that was on the road. The driver of the Honda, Lucas A. Schuster, 24, of Prospect, was issued a ticket for failure to control. At 5:52 a.m., a 2008 Hyundai Accent drove off the road into a ditch on Northwest Parkway. Minutes later, at 5:59 a.m., a 2002 Ford Explorer on U.S. 36 lost control and drove into a ditch.
Deputies responded to the 26000 block of Route 37 after a 2015 Chevrolet Cruse lost control, drove off the road, struck a mailbox and then a fence. Daniel A. Tafoya, 27, of Richwood, was issued a citation or failure to control.
A 2016 Ford van drove off the road at 7:13 a.m. after losing control on Route 736, and a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier lost control on Cotton Slash Road at 8:06 a.m.
At 10:09 a.m. a 2013 Ford F-150 lost control, drove off the road and rolled on its side on Watkins Road.
Finally, a 2015 Ford Fusion lost control at 10:13 on Route 37 and drove off the road before hitting a mailbox and utility pole.
