Students at Mill Valley Elementary School gathered in the school’s auditorium Thursday afternoon to donate blankets they helped create for Project Linus. The organization provides blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, created by volunteers. Students from each grade spent the school year learning about mindfulness and gratefulness. For each act of generosity they exhibited in class, they were able to tie a knot into a blanket. Pictured above, from left to right, Mary Ann Conley, coordinator for the Union County chapter of Project Linus, accepts a blanket from second grade student Journie Rice, while students Daphne Middleton, Clara Dove and Grant Phillips prepare to make their donations.
