ADAMS
Betty Louise Adams, 85, of North Lewisburg, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at Memorial Gables in Marysville with her husband at her side.
A cosmetologist, she taught cosmetology at the Ohio Reformatory for Women for eight years. Afterward, she fulfilled her dream as she opened her own shop in her home, where she served clients for several years. She graduated from New Bloomington High School in 1950.
She and her husband, Drew, lived in Dover Township for more than 50 years, where they were members of Springdale Baptist Church. Active in her faith, she held several church positions and was a financial secretary for many years. Upon moving to North Lewisburg, she and her husband became members of North Lewisburg United Methodist Church. She held Bible fellowships every Tuesday morning for nine years and studied the writings of Max Lucado. She also held a monthly senior movie time session in her home, complete with hearty meals. Active in the Emmaus community, she served several years with the Kairos and Epiphany prison ministries.
She enjoyed music and sang duets with her husband. They enjoyed spending time outdoors together by boating, fishing, camping, traveling to national parks or journeying overseas to Israel and Egypt. A dedicated homemaker, she liked sewing, crocheting and gardening, and especially enjoyed her pet poodles. She will be remembered as an excellent cook and baker. Above all, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and found great joy in life being with her family and helping others.
She was born on July 18, 1932, in Marion County, the daughter of the late LeRoy and Mabel Park Montgomery. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Clara Mae Lucas, and her granddaughter, Michelle Jeanette Jones.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Drew T. Adams, whom she married on Feb. 17, 1952, at the Adams homestead in Dover Township; children, Carol (Rick) Beckley of Richwood, the Rev. Terry L. (Gail) Adams of Ostrander and Anna Louise (Michael) Jones of Florida; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Gladys Arnt of Marion, George (Pam) Montgomery of Garrettsville and Larry (Gladys) Montgomery of Marion; numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Underwood Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends beginning at 4 p.m. The Rev. Karen Montgomery will officiate the funeral service. Graveside interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Herman Cemetery with the Rev. C. Rorke Warne officiating.
