Carolena M. Trees, 91, of Marysville, died Sunday morning, Jan. 14, 2018, at Memorial Gables, following many months of failing health.
She was a retired registered nurse. She graduated from the Ohio State University (OSU) College of Nursing and joined OSU’s medical staff. She then went on to be a head nurse at the Ohio Tuberculosis Hospital. She worked for a year at the Halifax Medical Center in Florida, and when she and her husband returned to Marysville, she became employed at the Ohio Reformatory for Women. She finished her nursing career at Memorial Hospital of Union County, retiring in 1983.
She and her husband were very active fraternally and socially in Marysville and the county. She will be remembered as a very snappy dresser. She held memberships with the Marysville 3506 Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, Marysville Moose Lodge, Ostrander Lodge #476 OES, Delaware Lodge #504 OES, Order of Railway Conductor of American Ladies Auxiliary in Toledo, the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Community and Seasoned Citizens and the Marysville First United Methodist Church.
She was born April 28, 1926, in Toledo, to the late Riley E. and Grace E. Blosser Dew. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Trees, whom she married June 20, 1954, at Riverside Methodist Church, and who died Jan. 26, 1997.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Kathleen Trees of Marysville; nephews, Gerald Trees Jr. and Warren Trees; niece, Kristy Cummins; many fraternal friends, and especially her closest friends, Eileen Moser, Neila McCarty, Sue Hayes and Cindy Warner.
The Rev. James Taylor will officiate funeral services at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Ingram Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until service time with a memorial service conducted by the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary at the conclusion of the visitation. Burial will be held Thursday at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park in Toledo next to her parents.
