Charlene R. Penix, 55, of Marysville and formerly of Kenton, died Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 8, 2017, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
She was a nurse in the intensive care unit at Memorial Hospital. She had a big heart, and enjoyed camping, traveling, playing Bunko and going to dinner and seeing a movie with her husband, Jim. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was born on Nov. 13, 1961, in Kenton, to the late Harold Junior Marsh and Virginia (Castle) Sprang. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Sam Mullins.
She is survived by her husband, James Penix of Marysville, whom she married on Oct. 1, 2005; daughters, Nichole (Heather) Shick of Woodstock, Heather Shick of Ada, Regina Tipton of Portsmouth and Rachel (Joe) Price of Centerville; son, Aaron (Jennifer) Penix of Belle Center; grandchildren, Haylyn Geiger, Jakob, Isaak and Lukas Tipton, Jaden Penix, Liam and Logan Price and Hayleigh and Dalton Penix; sisters, Wilma Mullins of Paulding, Donna (Michael) Wells of Dunkirk, Nanett (Eric) Shey of Williamstown, Patricia Elwood of Chicago and Jane (Terry) Curtis of Taylorsville, North Carolina; brother, Larry (Bonnie) Marsh of Kenton; and stepfather, Glenn Sprang of Dunkirk.
The Rev. Dr. Randall J. Forester will officiate funeral services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Evangelical Church. Burial will follow at Wolfcreek Cemetery. Price McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is handling the arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
