Charles Hugh Muncrief Sr., 87, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at Memorial Gables in Marysville, where he resided to be near his son’s family.
He lived a happy and full life well into his 88th year. “Buddy,” as he was called by friends and family, started out learning the typesetting trade from the family print shop in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He went on to travel his way among various newspapers working as a typesetter.
He had many interests, including riding motorcycles, racing boats, sailing, building and flying remote controlled planes and tinkering in his woodworking shop. In 1979, he journeyed in his sailboat from California to Hawaii. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Aladdin Shrine in Honolulu. He will be missed and remembered for his smile and positive outlook on life.
He was born on July 26, 1930, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to the late Clifton and Phyllis North Muncrief. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Katherine Amano Muncrief, whom he met while working in Hawaii.
He is survived by his son, Charles (Jennifer) Muncrief Jr. of Dublin; grandsons, Matthew and Andrew Muncrief, both of Dublin; sister, Phyllis (Buck) Boulden of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and nephews, Beau, Clifton and John Paul Boulden.
At his request, private services will be held in Hawaii. Underwood Funeral Home is assisting the family.
