JUANITA MARIE (WARD) CLAY
Juanita Marie (Ward) Clay, 88, of Plain City, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, April 24, 2018, at Prestige Gardens, Marysville.
She retired from GM in 1985 after 30 years of service. She was very active with the Union County Mentally Handicapped and dedicated time to assist the elderly. She enjoyed camping, sewing and crocheting. She was a very creative person.
She was a very active member of the Plain City United Methodist Church while raising her five sons. She sang in the church choir in various places throughout Columbus and played multiple instruments.
She was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Blaine, Kentucky, to the late Chilt M. and Lyda E. (Osborn) Ward. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Otis Clay, who died in 1991; son, Michael Clay, who died in 2002; daughter-in-law, Rita Clay, who died in 1997; twin infant great-granddaughters, who both died in 2012; sister, Geneva Hughes, who died in 2009; brothers, Maxwell Ward, who died in 1991, and Ronald Gene Ward, who died in 1989; and brothers-in-law, Bernard Hughes, who died in 2000, and Harry Wheeler, who died in 2018.
She is survived by her sons, Daryl (Sue Holstein) Clay of Raymond, Robin (Sue) Clay of Plain City, Christopher (Donna) Clay of West Jefferson and Timothy (Angie O’Hara) Clay of South Shore, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; sister, Christina Wheeler; and sisters-in-law, Rusty Ward and Emiline Ward.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main Street, (Route 161 W.) Plain City. The Rev. Blaine Keene will officiate a funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Forest Grove Cemetery.
