Judith Ann “Judy” Koplock Carpenter, 78, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
A medical technologist, she retired from Memorial Hospital in 2001 after 23 years of service in the lab. She was a graduate of Canton Lincoln High School and received a medical technology degree from Carnegie College in Cleveland.
A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, she enjoyed reading, golfing, crocheting and playing bridge. As a youth, she played baseball and also ran track. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she cherished supporting her grandchildren in all of their activities. She loved her dog, Suki, as well as her other dogs.
She was born on Jan. 24, 1939, in Canton, to the late George and Lillian (Bialota) Koplock. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Koplock; a grandson, Joshua Carl Carpenter; and a nephew, Trent Koplock.
She is survived by her children, Marla (Neil) Nicol of Marysville, John (Kim) Carpenter of Bellefontaine, Michael (Lynn) Carpenter of Lima and Leesa (William) Hattori of Black Mountain, North Carolina; grandchildren, Liliana Carpenter, Alecia Carpenter, Jackson Carpenter, Chase Carpenter, Amanda (Ryan) Kerns, Lauren (Matthew) Ricker, Austin Carpenter, Caleb Nicol and Krista Nicol; great-grandchildren, Illa, Cecilia, Silas and Thea; sister-in-law, Sylvia Koplock; nieces, Luren (Jon) Koplock Disser and Karina (Dominic) Koplock Belli; nephew, Todd Koplock; and many other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated today at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment will be held at a later date. Underwood Funeral Home assisted the family.
