Keith D. Greer, 79, of Marysville, died early Thursday morning, Feb. 8, 2018, at his home with his loving family by his side.
He retired from Honda of America after 19 years of service. Before working at Honda, he, alongside Rex Dennis, was the co-owner of Dennis & Greer Barber Shop in Marysville, where they operated it for 21 years. In his later years, he enjoyed farming and raising sheep, as well as horse racing his ponies.
A man who never knew a stranger, he relished his coffee time with friends at the gas station in Pharisburg and, always a prankster, never missed a chance to get something over on anybody who would end up in an endless amount of teasing.
He was born Sept. 1, 1938, at the family home on White Stone Road, to the late Jay N. and Mildred O. Teets Greer. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Jay N. Greer Jr., and sister, Ruth Lowe.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, the former Sherry K. Elliott, whom he married March 9, 1965, at Pharisburg United Methodist Church; children, Tammy K. (Bobby) DeGood and Michael K. (Brandee) Greer, both of Marysville; grandchildren, Alby Cramer, Lane Allen, Krista Fowler and Hayleigh DeGood; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel (Willie) Wyeth of Marysville and Rita (Darrel) Krasny of Delaware; and many special friends, including Joe Beightler.
Calling hours will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Ingram Funeral Home. The Rev. James Taylor will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Claibourne Cemetery.
In his memory, contributions may be made to the Union County Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
