Lawrence Eugene “Gene” Inskeep, 95, of Middleburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, in the Gables of Marysville.
He was a member of Middleburg United Methodist Church, the Triad Athletic Boosters and the Farm Bureau. He was a 30-year advisor for 4-H and a member of the North Lewisburg Fire Department for 16 years. He enjoyed living at and working on the farm. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He was born Feb. 6, 1923, in Middleburg, to the late Howard and Nettie (Crowder) Sigler Inskeep. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Cathrine Kate (Firestine) Inskeep; sisters, Laura Bell Crabtree, Eileen Inskeep and Martha Fletcher; and brother, Donald Wayne Inskeep.
He is survived by his daughters, Louise Dunham and Janice (Robert) Shonkwiler; son, Kaylor (Sandy) Inskeep; grandchildren, Paula Darling, Deborah (Alan) Carpenter, Stacy (David) Peterson, Jason (Missy) Inskeep, Ty (Kristi) Inskeep and Justin (Erica) Brown; and several great-grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, North Lewisburg. The Rev. Karen Montgomery will officiate funeral services at Middleburg United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow at Middleburg Cemetery.
