Leanna D. “Lan” Ruby, 75, of Broadway, died unexpectedly Friday morning at Memorial Hospital.
She worked in the retail industry holding employment at Family Dollar and having retired from the K-Mart and Big Bear companies.
She liked to spend her days traveling on different adventures, with her husband “Jr.”, to Amish country, the Ohio State and to the Union County fairs, and pushing her luck at the casino.
She enjoyed tending her vegetable garden every year to pass free time as well as reading her Amish novels.
She was a glorious wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be greatly missed and forever in their hearts.
She was born Sept. 6, 1942, in Cambridge, to the late Robert and Elverda Ruby Reynolds. She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law Bruce Strickland.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Johnson D. Ruby Jr., whom she married Sept. 9, 1962; her daughter, Michele D. Ruby of Marysville; a son Darrell Ruby of Marysville; a granddaughter, Chelsea (Aaron) Begley of Xenia; sisters, Shirley Strickland of Marysville and Marge (Sandy) Stiffler of Byesville; a brother-in-law, Gale (Marge) Ruby of Byesville; a sister-in-law, Janet Ruby of California; a cousin, Walter (Betty) Davis of Cambridge; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the Ingram Funeral Home. The Rev. James Taylor will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be held prior to the service, from 5-7 p.m.
Memorial contributions, in the deceased’s memory, may be made to her family in care of the funeral home.
