Lydia R. Slack, 97, of Marysville, died Monday morning, Dec. 18, 2017, at her home with her son and daughter-in-law at her side.
She was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. A loving wife and stay-at-home mom, she was dedicated to her family. She enjoyed working in her yard and bird watching. She was an avid collector of rooster figurines and enjoyed solving word search puzzles. At the age of 93, she learned to appreciate the companionship of her family’s dachshund dogs.
She was born on Aug. 16, 1920, in Marysville, to the late Emanuel and Mary Scheiderer Burns. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Slack, whom she married on Aug. 1, 1950, in Ohio City, and who died in 2007; and siblings, Leo Burns, Bertha Rausch, Dorothy Rarick, Walter Burns and infant sister Claire Burns.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Caryl and Darlene Slack of Marysville; grandson, Christopher Slack and his wife, Julie, of Westerville; sister-in-law, Mildred “Milly” Burns of Marysville; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ingram Funeral Home. The Rev. Jacob Heino will officiate funeral services at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at St John’s Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery, next to her husband.
