Philip F. Patterson, 77, of Dublin, died peacefully after a long illness Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018.
He graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1958. He attended Kentucky Military Institute and Bowling Green State University, where he enjoyed playing football. He succeeded his father as owner of Patterson Pools, Inc. and held that position until he retired in 2014.
He was born in Columbus to the late James A. and Mary Ruth Patterson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred W. Patterson.
He is survived by his children, Kathy (Steve Seciliot) Patterson of Marysville, Abigail Ruth Patterson of Dublin, Tammy Backenstoe of Hilliard and Tim (Olivia) Patterson of Galloway; grandchildren, Alex Backenstoe, Sam Backenstoe, Lexi Patterson, Molli Patterson and Hayli Patterson; brother, James A. Patterson Jr. of Columbus; sister, Charlotte (Tim) Hollinger of Upper Arlington; sister-in-law, Sherry (Dave) Berent of Demorest, Georgia; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. A burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery, in Galloway.
