Robert P. “Fritz” Blue, 77, of Richwood, died early Monday morning, Dec. 4, 2017, at Heartland of Marion, following many years of failing health.
He retired from Westreco Inc. after 37 years of service. A licensed trainer, he had a passion for race horses and owned and trained pacers for many years. He enjoyed collecting and restoring old farm equipment in his spare time and playing the lottery.
He was born on March 29, 1940, in Plain City, to the late Robert M. and Helen L. Zimmerman Blue. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, the former W. Arlene Hostetter, whom he married on Oct. 23, 1964, at Richwood United Methodist Church, and who died April 13, 2016; and sister, Patricia A. Amis.
He is survived by his children, Christopher S. (Rachel) Blue of Richwood and Beth A. Stout of Marion; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, William E. “Bill” (Lois) Blue of Marysville and Joseph A. (Margaret) Blue of Columbus; many nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Ingram Funeral Home. The Rev. John Groat will officiate funeral services at 4 p.m. Burial will be at Claibourne Cemetery at a later date.
