Ruby Kathleen “Kathy” Hubbard Speakman, 61, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018.
She was an associate at Walmart for more than 10 years. She was an avid fan of The Ohio State University. She was always the “life of the party” and “center of attention.” She never met a stranger.
She enjoyed playing cards, cornhole and watching OSU football games with her husband. She liked spending time with her kids and grandchildren, and cherished having gatherings at her home.
She was born Dec. 16, 1956, in Delaware, to the late Alvy Sr. and Mary Ward Hubbard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, McKenzie Carter; mother and father-in-law, Cora and Roy Speakman; nephew, Tony Helton; niece, Angel Carvis; and sister, Barb Bouchard.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Daniel L. Speakman, whom she married March 10, 1973, in Marysville; daughters, Christie (Barb) Speakman of Marysville, Kitty (Scott Alley) Speakman of Columbus, Danielle (Adam) Culwell and Nicole (Joe) Hall of Ashley; grandchildren, Karma Schoby, Finny Slaven, Justin and Kisandra Tignor, Kyle, Alisha and Zachary Culwell, Jacob Lawrence, Austin, Jolie and Avery Hall; great-grandchildren, Kyla Fraker and Liam Culwell; siblings, Bernice “Jo” (Bill) Wilson, Alvy (Cindy) Hubbard, Brenda (Denton) Helton and Tennyson “Tink” Hubbard; sister-in-law, Vicki (Phil) Huey; brother-in-law, Dale (Patti) Speakman; many nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Tami “Sis” (John) Michael, Chrystal Matthews and Melanie Walter; and good friend, Clay Simpson.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Roehrenbeck will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Oakdale Cemetery.
