Shirley Anne Allen, 77, of Plain City, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of OVMA and American Belgian Horse Association. She served as the secretary of the Eastern States Draft Horse Sales. She was a past member of the Plain City Garden Club. With her husband, Doc., she was an owner and partner of the Pleasant Valley Veterinary Hospital and Allen Time Farms, LLC.
She was born Nov. 8, 1940, in Byhalia, to the late Elmer R. and Florine (Johnson) Berry. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Maggie Berry.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Doc. Allen, whom she married June 16, 1967; sons, Jon Allen and Brian (Kimberly) Allen; grandchildren, Jacob Ames Allen, Joseph Randall Allen, Eveline Anne Allen and Wilson Fortner Allen; sister, Rose (Richard) Haines; and brother, Robert Berry.
A gathering is being held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St. (Route 161 W.), Plain City. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Byhalia Cemetery in Byhalia.
