John Blackburn, 64, of Huntsville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 11, 2017, in his home.
He was a graduate of Fairbanks High School. He retired from Nash Finch as a warehouseman and was a member of Teamsters Local #908 in Lima. He was also a member of the Mechanicsburg Eagles # 3974 F.O.E. and the Sons of Amvets.
He enjoyed tinkering on anything, playing pool, golf, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and football. Most of all, he enjoyed watching his boys play sports and spending time with his family.
He was born on July 17, 1952, in Columbus, to the late Jack Kenneth and Madaline (Moore) Blackburn.
He is survived by his sons, Jesse (Lindsay) Blackburn, Chase (Megan) Blackburn and Xavier Anderson; significant other, Maleah Anderson; grandchildren, Landyn, Bentley, Wyatt, Jameson and Elliotte; sisters, Mary Blackburn, Kathy (Randy) Williams and Tammy (Randy) Collins; brothers, Chuck Blackburn, Bruce (Judy) Blackburn, Mike Blackburn and Tony (Brenda) Blackburn; and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home in North Lewisburg. The Rev. Russell Street will officiate funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodstock Cemetery, in Woodstock.
