The Marysville Lady Monarch varsity softball team kept its Ohio Capital Conference Central Division record unblemished with Friday’s 7-1 triumph over Dublin Coffman.
The Shamrocks plated the game’s initial run in the visitors’ portion of the first inning.
The Lady Monarchs (12-3 overall and 4-0 in the OCC) responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first.
They took a 3-1 margin in the third and added four runs over the course of the fifth and sixth innings.
Airyanna Maurer pitched a complete game for MHS. She surrendered six hits, struck out six and did not walk a batter.
The Lady Monarchs, who will play at Bloom Carroll today, withstood three errors to record the victory.
Both teams had six hits and Coffman finished with five fielding miscues.
Izzy Shroyer and Hanna Moffett each had two hits.
Emily Daniel and Chris Ortman also hit safely.

Panthers win
The Fairbanks baseball squad upped its record to 11-4 with a 7-3 verdict over Greeneview.
The Panthers did so despite committing five errors.
FHS outhit the Rams, 9-7, led by two hits each from Wes Pyers and James Yoder.
Also hitting safely were Connor Pack, Mason Smith, Alex Jones, Alan Schnees and Mason Cushman.
Fairbanks held a 4-0 lead before the visitors scored twice in the fourth.
The Panthers tallied the rest of their runs over the fourth and fifth frames.
Smith struck out seven and walked only two to notch the victory.
The Panthers will play a doubleheader today at Shekinah Christian.
The first pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Lady Cardinals triumph
Triad’s softball squad needed only five innings for a 14-0 victory over Madison Plains.
The Lady Cardinals scored during each inning, rapping 17 hits along the way.
Kayleigh Boldman drove in six runs for Triad.
Maddy Collier was the winning pitcher.
The Lady Cardinals (4-4 overall and 4-3 in the OHC) will play at Kenton Ridge today.

Monarchs drop game
Marysville’s varsity baseball squad lost its first Ohio Capital Conference Central Division game of the season on Friday.
The Monarchs are now 11-4 overall and 7-1 in the division after a 12-4 loss to Hilliard Davidson.
“This was just a good, old-fashioned tail-kicking tonight,” said coach Mark Brunswick. “Davidson was the aggressor and dictated the tempo of the game.
“You have to live and learn in baseball,” he said. “Hopefully, we will learn fast.”
Gavin Sharp had two hits and drove in three runs for the Monarchs, who will play at Upper Arlington (noon) today.
Blake Storr and Kaleb Schultz also had two of MHS’ 11 hits.
Blaine Williams took the loss.

JVs fall
Marysville’s JVA baseball squad dropped a 4-2 verdict to Hilliard Davidson.
Andrew VanHoose pitched six innings for the Monarchs. He struck out four and walked two.
Matt Belt led the Jr. Monarchs with three hits.
