Marysville’s Emily Daniel broke a 1-1 stalemate with a base hit that plated two runs on Wednesday.
As a result, the Lady Monarch varsity softball squad scored a 3-1 verdict at Upper Arlington.
MHS (11-3 overall and 3-0 in the OCC) scored once in the first. Daniel doubled and raced home on Chris Ortman’s two-bagger.
The Golden Bears tied the game with a run in the home half of the third inning.
Jewely Livingston walked and Airyanna Maurer beat out a bunt for a single in the Monarchs’ portion of the sixth.
Sydney Wade went into the game to pinch-run for Maurer. She and Livingston scored on Daniel’s base hit.
The Lady Monarchs outhit UA, 7-3.
Ortman tallied three hits and Daniel finished with two.
Hanna Moffett and Izzy Shroyer also hit safely.
Maurer fanned two and walked four to pick up the win.
The Lady Monarchs are scheduled to host Hilliard Davidson today.
The MHS jayvees downed Upper Arlington, 13-3.
Diedra Blankenship got the win in the circle as she gave up five hits.
Taylor Claybaugh, Blankenship and Marissa Meffley each tallied two 2 hits.
Ashlee Fishbaugh ripped a pair of triples.
Lady Panthers triumph
Fairbanks’ softball squad scored five runs in the top of the third to defeat Elgin, 7-0.
The Lady Panthers (4-8) ripped 12 hits, while pitcher Emily Wilson limited the Comets to five. She struck out 10.
Wilson hit a homer during the third and finished the game with three hits and a trio of RBIs.
Taylor Bates tallied two hits, while McKenleigh Greene drove in a pair of runs.
The Lady Panthers will host Greeneview on Friday.
FHS wins
Fairbanks’ baseball team had little trouble in rolling past Indian Lake, 10-0, in six innings.
Alan Schnees added two more homers to his resume. He hit a two-run shot in the third and a three-run blast in the sixth.
Schnees also was the winning pitcher as he limited the Lakers to one hit.
Connor Pack led the Panther attack with four hits. Schnees had two, while Wes Pyers and Jaeden Eickhoff each had two.
FHS (10-4) will host Worthington Christian today.
Triad wins two
Triad’s softball and baseball teams put victories in the book.
The Lady Cardinals ran their record to 3-4 overall and 3-3 in the Ohio Heritage Conference with a 13-1 triumph.
Audrey Lightle and Kendall Hughes each had two hits.
Triad will host Madison Plains on Friday.
The Cardinal baseball squad rolled past Cedarville 10-6 in league play.
Briley Harlan was the winning pitcher as he worked four innings.
Jacob Greve pitched in relief.
Isaiah Bruce and Austin Bails each had two hits as the Cardinals improved to 3-5 overall and 3-2 in the OHC.
