Triad’s varsity baseball team pounded Riverside into submission by a score of 17-2 during six innings on Thursday.
The Cardinals (4-5) plated 11 runs over the fifth and sixth frames to invoke the run-rule.
Batai Lease led Triad with three hits during five trips to the plate. He scored two runs and drove in one.
Austin Bails and Trevor Instine each had two hits. They combined to drive in five runs.
Isaiah Bruce, Jordan Simonelli, Chris Tomlin, Logan McCoy and Cade Manley each had one of the Cardinals’ 14 hits.
Triad played a solid defensive game with only one error behind Instine’s work on the mound.
The Cardinals will host Madison Plains today.
JVs triumph
Triad’s JV softball team beat Fairbank, 13-9, on Thursday.
Sidney Louck was the winning pitcher as the Jr. Cardinals evened their record at 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the Ohio Heritage Conference.
Jaina Stanley had two hits and drove in three runs.
Shelby Sheets tallied two hits.
