Tentative results of the Ohio Graduation Test showed marked improvement at Marysville High School, superintendent Larry Zimmerman said Monday night at the regular monthly school board meeting.
In fact, he said, Marysville High School was one of only three high schools (out of 49 school districts) in the Central Ohio region to improve the passage rate in all testing areas.
Passage rates in reading increased from 83.8 percent in the 2006-2007 school year to 86 percent in 2007-2008; in math from 84.8 percent to 87.2 percent; in writing from 87.9 percent to 90.7 percent; in science from 67.4 to 78.2 percent; and in social studies from 77.6 percent to 82.9 percent.
“I’m pretty encouraged ... we’re much improved from last year,” Zimmerman said.
He added that the school’s graduation rate also has improved, from 93.5 percent in the 2006-2007 school year to 96.7 percent in the 2007-2008 school.
“At one time in this district it was (in the) low 80s,” Zimmerman said.
