Between 45 and 50 people turned out for the event inspired by the Boston Tea Party in 1773 in which 18th century American colonists demonstrated against taxes imposed by the British government by throwing tea into Boston Harbor. –––– CINCINNATI (AP) — From Ashtabula to Zanesville, tax protests are planned in about two dozen Ohio cities as the deadline looms for filing federal and state returns. One of the larger gatherings on Wednesday is expected in Cincinnati, where about 5,000 people attended a similar rally a month ago. The events are known as Tea Parties — a name inspired by the Boston Tea Party, in which 18th century American colonists demonstrated against taxes imposed by the British government by throwing tea into Boston Harbor. A loose coalition known as the Ohio Tea Party is part of a nationwide movement that is holding rallies Wednesday in more than 600 cities across the U.S. while many people rush to beat the annual April 15 deadline for filing income tax forms.
