Fairbanks High School names top scholars May 22, 2009 at 8:07 pm

Fairbanks High School will hold its graduation ceremony Saturday at 11 a.m. at the football stadium. Class valedictorians are Danielle Short and Larissa Stauffer. Salutatorians are Chelsie House and Robert Williams. Danielle Short is the daughter of Brett and Dorthy Short of Marysville. She is a three-year National Honor Society member and served as its president this year. She also was this year’s student council president and has participated in ski club, international club and science club while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She is a four-year varsity softball letterman and a three-year letterman in volleyball. She has been the captain of both teams and received many league honors. Danielle has a strong interest in foreign languages and cultures. She has taken four years of French and two years of Spanish. She traveled to France this spring as part of an exchange program and hosted French students last fall. Danielle will attend The Ohio State University to study international business and international relations. She also has plans to pursue a law degree to compliment her dual major. Larissa Stauffer is the daughter of Bob and Dawn Stauffer of Rosedale. She attends church at Mechanicsburg Christian Fellowship where she is involved in the youth group and worship team. She also is involved in National Honor Society, marching band, pep band, concert band, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Throughout high school, Larissa has maintained a 4.0 GPA and was named a National Merit Finalist this year. After high school, Larissa plans to attend The Ohio State University to which she was awarded a National Merit Scholarship. Salutatorians Chelsie House is the daughter of Dale and Tracie House of Cable. Throughout her high school career, she has been a member of National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, science club, international club, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. She participated in basketball for one year, volleyball two years, and softball for four years. This spring, Chelsie earned second team all NWCC honors. In the fall, Chelsie will attend Otterbein College. She will pursue a double major in math and physics with a minor in education in hopes of becoming a high school teacher. Chelsie also will be a member of the Lady Cardinal softball team at Otterbein. Robert Williams is the son of Bob and Nancy Williams of Marysville. Throughout high school he has been involved in National Honor Society, science club marching band, concert band and pep band. He also has participated in track, wrestling and soccer in which he was the team captain the past two years. He also has been an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Marysville. This fall Robert will attend Indiana University and will be in the Hutton Honors College majoring in sports marketing and management with a business minor.
