Local sharpshooter brings home medals from Ohio Police and Fire Games
With his shaved head and matter-of-fact way of speaking, Union County Sheriff’s deputy Sgt. Lyle Herman may not fit the standard nostalgic image of the grizzled long-haired sharpshooter wearing a cowboy hat and a long coat.
But he is a sharpshooter.
Herman recently took home the gold at the State of Ohio Police and Fire Games held in Canton the week of June 14-19.
For the first time ever taking part in the state games, he said he was happy with the result.
Herman took home first place in the tactical rifle (iron sights) competition, and also won the silver medal in combat auto pistol shooting, the bronze medal in the 16-yard team trap shooting, another bronze medal in handicap team trap shooting and a third bronze medal in doubles team trap shooting.
