Despite the summer heat, the Union County Board of Elections is reminding people that deadlines for the fall elections are approaching.
“We want to make sure people know about the deadlines,” said Karla Herron, deputy director of the Union County Board of Elections. “We have a lot of open positions in this election.”
Herron reminded potential candidates that nominating petitions for candidates and local issues and questions must be filed at the board of elections by 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20 for the November general election.
According to board of elections officials, each city or village in the county (Marysville, Milford Center, Magnetic Springs, Plain City, Richwood, Unionville Center) has four vacant seats to be filled. Marysville has three at-large positions to be filled, along with the Ward I seat recently vacated. Michael Aquillo is currently sitting in that seat, vacated by John Marshall. City council appointed Aquillo to fill the position until an election can be held.
Marysville will also vote for city law director.
