Wastewater treatment fees were heart of issue
The village of Woodstock will pay the village of North Lewisburg $42,645 for wastewater treatment services according to an out-of-court settlement submitted to the Champaign County Court of Common Pleas on Aug. 17.
North Lewisburg Mayor Jason Keeran reported details of the settlement at Tuesday night’s regular council meeting.
In addition, a new contract was agreed upon with Woodstock to charge a flat rate “service fee” in the sum of $14 per equivalent dwelling unit per month. The new pricing begins this month and continues through Sept. 30, 2018.
In August, council passed an ordinance increasing Woodstock’s EDU service per month from $7 to $13.67. Council passed an amended ordinance Tuesday reflecting the new $14 monthly rate.
North Lewisburg has been in litigation with Woodstock since 2008 for unpaid sewer expenses over three years. Due to regulations set by the county health department and the Ohio EPA, North Lewisburg can’t shut off the water line to Woodstock.
