One man in intensive care after incident on Lake Erie
Marysville man is in the intensive care unit of a Toledo hospital after barely surviving a boating accident near East Harbor on Lake Erie Tuesday morning.
Harold Jackson, 85, of Marysville, remained in the intensive care unit at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo this morning. He was flown there by medical helicopter after the boat which he owned exploded Tuesday morning, shortly after being filled with fuel.
Harold Jackson’s son, Randy Jackson, 62, also of Marysville, additionally was involved in the accident, as was Roger Mabry, 77, of Milford Center, and Mike Bender, 69, of Marblehead, a nephew of Harold Jackson. All four men were embarking on what they thought would be a fun day of perch fishing.
“We were just lucky we weren’t further out,” Mabry told the Journal-Tribune this morning. “We weren’t 20 to 30 yards from where we filled up in the bay.”
