Locals meet, play in Ohio State Marching Band

Union County Sheriff Rocky Nelson visited with student musicians in the Ohio State University Marching Band Saturday on campus before the OSU vs USC game. 
He met Ben Hyun, a 2008 graduate of Marysville High School, who is a sophomore at OSU majoring. This is his second year in the OSU marching band's trumpet A Row and is planning on majoring in music education. 
He is the son of Jin and Gum Hyun of Marysville.
This year marks the 75 th anniversary of the all brass instrumentation in the Ohio State University Marching Band.
Lisa Galvin, former OSUMB member and wife of Marysville Middle School band director Joe Galvin, arranged all the halftime music for the OSU band for Southern Cal game.
Eight decades ago the athletic department and school of music signed a formal agreement which is still in place today.  The athletic department would provide the funding for the marching band and the school of music would supply the staff.  The agreement brought Professor Eugene J. Weigel to Columbus in 1929.
