A historic blast from Milford Center’s past — an antique jail cell — could go on display again.
A lack of a quorum, however, has postponed its fate. Milford Center Council members Jeff Parren, Tom Barnhardt, Chris Burger, and Aimee Robles were unable to attend Monday’s monthly council meeting.
Remaining members Darlene Trainer, Tony Smith and mayor Bob Mitchell decided on a possible rescheduled meeting on Monday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. If the new date can be arranged, Mitchell said he would contact council members with the news.
Before adjourning, members discussed some issues, including the antique jail cell. No action was taken.
During September’s village council meeting, resident Tony Dailey had expressed interest in donating an antique jail cell he believes originally housed prisoners in the old Milford Center jail.
Monday night Mitchell explained that Daily’s family members had purchased the jail cell years ago.
According to the September meeting minutes, village zoning inspector Leroy Holt said Dailey’s relatives have kept the cell from being damaged by rust. Now they would like to see the jail cell on display locally, or at the Union County Historical Society in Marysville.
