A North Union High School teacher has been suspended by the district, though district officials are not saying why.
District Superintendent Rick Smith said the district suspended special education teacher Amy White on Tuesday “for suspicion of professional misconduct.”
He said the teacher has been placed on home suspension with pay. The superintendent said the teacher will be “given due process pending the completion of the district’s investigation.”
“I don’t have a timeline for that investigation, but the district’s administrators are fulfilling all the guidelines for handling the situation,” Smith said.
The superintendent said he “cannot be more specific at this time. I think when people hear this, they think the absolute worst, horrific story and it doesn’t fall into that category.”
He did specify “it did not involve a special education student.”
Smith said White started working in the district as a special education teacher in August 2005.
