Milford Center residents may see second water rate hike before first one takes effect Residents of Milford Center have two choices when it comes to the future of their water services — neither of them may be all that appealing. Monday night council members held the first readings on resolutions to raise the village water rates $2.65 dollars per month in order to fund loan payments for the replacement of the water system’s iron filter and remaining aging water lines. This increase would add to an additional annual 3 percent water rate increase already on the books. Both increases would go into effect on Jan. 1. The public hearing for the proposed increase will be held at council’s Dec. 14 meeting, when residents may voice their opinions on the proposal. Members discussed how the other option for residents is to hold off on the water rate increase for now and face the possibility of the system breaking down.
