Brandon Compton was sworn in as a Fairbanks School Board member Monday night, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of school board member Star Simpson.
Compton, one of five candidates seeking three school board positions in the Nov. 3 general election, received 866 unofficial votes in that election. He came in behind incumbents Jaynie Lambert and Kevin Green.
He has been affiliated with CJ’s Market in Milford Center since 2004 and attended Marion Technical College.
Simpson, who resigned because she was moving out of the district, was present at Monday night’s meeting. She was presented with a shadow box and her board member name plate.
The board also discussed the condition of the high school roof, which was patched last summer.
