Fight club facility grapples with zoning change

Owner of former Made from Scratch seeks to sell building
A Jerome Township businessman is unhappy with the way zoning is being interpreted for his property.
Larry Clark, owner of the Made from Scratch conference center, 7510 Montgomery Drive, came to Monday night’s meeting of the Jerome Township trustees. The facility is currently serving as a mixed martial arts training facility.
He said he is looking to sell the building and has a potential buyer. However zoning administrator Kathleen Crowley has said the new proposed use is not permitted under the new zoning code. The building is zoned M-1, light manufacturing, for businesses which are “clean, quiet and free of hazardous or objectionable elements such as noise, odor, dust, smoke or glare; operate within enclosed structures; and generate little industrial traffic,” according to the zoning code.
Clark said he just wanted to bring the business owner to the trustee meeting so they could get a feel for what he does.
