Man sets himself on fire inside car

A Union County man was severely burned after attempting suicide by setting himself on fire Tuesday.
According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, a 51-year-old male poured an unspecified accelerant on himself while inside a car on his property in the 17000 block of Paver Barnes Road.
Marysville and Allen Township fire departments responded to the scene at 3:05 p.m., along with sheriff’s deputies.
Fire officials reported that the injuries were expected to be life-threatening.
“(The male) set himself on fire in the waist area,” Chris Skinner public information officer with the sheriff’s office, said. “The fire was put out by a family member. He did suffer extensive injury to both legs.”
