Safe sidewalks stressed

From left, Brian Palmer, city of Marysville; Shawn Sech, Union County Health Department; and Marysville Police Chief, Floyd Golden display the Pedestrian Safety Task Force banner Tuesday at the intersection of Seventh and Grove streets. The task force was convened by the health department’s Safe Communities/Safe Kids Coalition and FedEx as part of the national Walk This Way program. Members include the Union County Health Department, city of Marysville, Marysville Division of Police, and the Marysville Exempted Village School District. Members worked throughout this year to build new sidewalks to improve the permanent walking conditions for child pedestrians in the Edgewood Elementary School community. The Union County Safe Communities/Safe Kids Coalition works to prevent accidental childhood injury, the leading killer of children 14 and under.
