Taken to hospital after chewing pills
A former Marysville woman tried to take her own life Friday after a Clark County jury convicted her of abusing her five foster children.
Clark County deputies confirmed that Vonda Ferguson, 46, was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center after she was found chewing on a mouthful of pills.
Earlier Friday, a jury convicted Ferguson on all 32 charges, including two counts of rape, both first-degree felonies; 20 counts of endangering children, all second-degree felonies; five counts of permitting child abuse, felonies of the third degree; and five counts of second-degree felonious assault.
Ferguson faces as many as 248 years in prison and $485,000 in fines.
“Basically, she put the pills in her mouth before she went into the courtroom (for the verdict), just in case,” said Sgt. Phil Sanders with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
