When the Jonathan Alder High School baseball team takes to the diamond next spring, it will have as one of its senior leaders a future NCAA Division I athlete.
Catcher-outfielder Jacob Mahon recently signed a national letter of intent to play at Evansville University.
Mahon said it was easy to pick the southern Indiana school after having fielded offers from the likes of Cincinnati, Dayton, Michigan, Purdue and Akron.
“I had a feeling right from my visit that this was the place for me,” said Mahon. “Evansville is a relatively small town and reminds me a little of Plain City,” he said. “And they offered the biggest scholarship.”
The Aces made a pretty good pitch for Mahon, according to Alder coach Craig Kyle.
