Marysville School Board members granted the school district’s educators an early Christmas present Monday night, authorizing pay increases that will begin in January.
Board members Tom Brower, John Freudenberg and Scott Johnson voted to accept the agreement with the Marysville Education Association that will begin Jan. 1 and continue through Dec. 31, 2011. Board president Jeff Mabee and board member Roy Fraker abstained. Both have wives who are members of the classified staff which will be affected by changes in the school district’s insurance premiums.
The agreement with the MEA will grant a 0.5 percent pay increase to teachers Jan. 1; 0.75 percent increase in September, and a 1.0 percent increase in September 2011.
