Milford Center rate increase approved December 16, 2009 at 7:01 am
By RYAN HORNS
Milford Center residents will officially see two water rate increases in 2010. During the monthly village council meeting Monday night, members passed a resolution to increase the water rates $4.50 more per month. This would add to an additional annual 3 percent water rate increase already set to kick in. Both increases will go into effect at the beginning of the year. During the November meeting, village engineer Gary Silcott explained Milford Center’s aging water system could fail at any time. It also consistently needs repairs, he said, which is going to cost the village money anyway. If the village iron filter breaks down, Silcott said, residents could end up with rust-colored well water coming from their taps. He said funding opportunities are being pursued, but nothing has been approved.
