Local man inducted into hometown HOF October 06, 2009 at 12:07 pm
Local resident and former Buckeye Robert “Bud” Bond, is being inducted into the Summit County Sports Hall of Fame today. Bond is originally from Akron. He boxed and played football, basketball and baseball at Akron Garfield High School before graduating in 1952. The Akron Beacon-Journal named him the Player of the Year in Summit County in football after his senior season. He earned All-Ohio honors and played in the North-South All-Star game.
