Rankin picks up game on leader of Pigskin Pickers race
November 06, 2009 at 7:03 am

Sports writer Virg Rankin managed to pick up a game on the leader in the Pigskin Pickers race.
Rankin had the best record last week at 9-3 and cut into the lead of reporter Mac Cordell who was 8-4. Rankin’s season mark now stands at 74-26 and Cordell is at 76-24.
Beyond that there was little movement in the Pickers as managing editor Chad Williamson, general manager Kevin Behrens and sports editor Tim Miller were all 8-4 on the week and maintained their positions.
Miller and Behrens remained tied at 70-30, while Williamson is 69-31 on the season and Williamson finished in the basement last year.
Also maintaining their position were office manager Cheryl Welty and society editor Karlyn Byers, who form Team Welby. Welby had the worst record of the week at 7-5. They managed to hold their position, however, as they were dead last to begin with and can’t fall any farther — or can they?
Welby’s season record is 67-33, and it has been clipping pizza coupons for two weeks now.
Last week’s guest Picker was 8-4 and that position now has a season record of 62-38.
This week’s guest Picker is Angie Sharp, owner of Heavenly Oasis.
