Lady Monarchs notch key OCC Cardinal victory at Scioto
January 18, 2010 at 5:30 am

“This is the biggest win we’ve had since I’ve been coach here.”
Those were the words of Marysville girls hoop boss Aric Tucker after Friday’s 52-51 victory at Dublin Scioto.
Playing in front of a partisan Irish crowd, the Lady Monarchs (8-4 overall and 4-4 in the OCC Cardinal Division) jumped out to a 14-4 lead midway through the first quarter.
“We jumped on them right away, which I felt was impressive playing in front of a hostile crowd,” said Tucker.
MHS held an 18-11 margin at the end of the first quarter and took a 27-25 edge at halftime.
Marysville (which will travel to Westland this afternoon) took a 39-36 lead into the final quarter.
The Irish, who had lost only one other game this season, had a chance to win but missed a shot at the final buzzer.
Cardinals top West Liberty
Triad’s boys hoop squad improved to 4-7 overall and 2-6 in the OHC with a 54-51 win over West Liberty-Salem.
After a 14-14 deadlock at the end of the opening quarter, the Cardinals held a 26-21 lead at the half.
The Tigers moved out to a 35-33 lead by the end of the third quarter.
