Ohio State basketball great Jerry Lucas follows through on his drive on number 10 at Blues Creek Golf Course on Wednesday. After a legendary high school career at Middletown, Lucas earned All-America status at OSU, leading the Buckeyes to the 1960 NCAA championship. He later won an Olympic gold medal and an NBA title with the New York Knicks. A member of the NCAA and NBA Halls of Fame, Lucas, now lives in California. While visiting Ohio on business, Lucas is staying with Richwood native Jim Parker, owner of the New Winchester Golf Club, near Bucyrus. Parker was part of Lucas’ foursome, which also included Blues Creek owner Les Christman and Mike McCreary. Former owner Ronnie Bayes accompanied the foursome, although he did not play because of a knee injury.
