GREENE
––––
Already behind bars, a Butler County woman could be facing another eight years in prison.
The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Kimberly Greene, 38, of the Ohio Reformatory for Women. Greene is charged with two counts of felonious assault.
“We get these routinely, where one inmate will attack another,” Assistant Union County Prosecutor Rick Rodger said. “They obviously have to have rules and order in prison, so they take these very seriously.”
Greene is currently serving a 30-month prison sentence for a 2016 conviction for burglary in Butler County. She was admitted to the prison in November 2016 and is scheduled for release in July 2018. The victim is also from Butler County. She is serving a six-month prison sentence for receiving stolen property and complicity to forgery. The victim is set to be released this week from ORW.
“The victim allegedly owed Greene money,” Rodger said.
According to court documents, on May 11, Greene allegedly put a lock inside a sock and used it as a weapon to attack the other inmate, hitting her in the head.
“That is a deadly weapon,” Rodger said.
The victim needed three staples to close the head wound.
Rodger said Greene told investigators she just wanted to get her money back.
While Green can be convicted on both counts of assault, because they involve the same incident, she can only be sentenced on one. If convicted, Greene could be facing as many as eight years in prison.
The Union County Grand Jury has also indicted:
– Chaunte Lynelle Craig, 36, whose court listed address is the Tri-County Regional Jail. Craig is charged with one count each of theft and falsification in a theft offense. According to court documents, on June 8, Craig went to a local retailer and lied to steal four power tools. If convicted on both charges, Craig could face as many as 24 months in prison.
– Christopher G. Cook, 39, of 22520 Hoover-Bault Road, Raymond. Cook is charged with one count of possession of heroin, stemming from an alleged incident Dec. 10. If convicted, Cook could face as many as 12 months in prison.
– Edward J. Vodarick, Jr., 40, of 2752 Delcane Dr., Columbus. Vodarick is charged with one count of theft, stemming from the alleged theft of a concrete saw in June. The saw was valued at about $1,111. If convicted, Vodarick could face as many as 12 months in prison.
– Vernon Eldon Swinning, 37, whose court-listed address is the Tri-County Regional Jail in Mechanicsburg. He is charged with one count of felony abusing harmful intoxicants. According to court documents, on May 27, Swinning was arrested for abusing inhalant chemicals. The offense is generally charged as a misdemeanor on the first offense. After a conviction, future allegations are charged as felonies. According to court documents, in January Swinning was found guilty of the same offense in Marysville Municipal Court. He is also under indictment for the same charge stemming from an incident in April. If convicted on the new charge, Swinning could face as many as 12 months in prison.
