The Union County Sheriff’s Office is joining Marysville Police investigating of a string of vehicle thefts that occurred alongside similar thefts in Marysville last week.
Sheriff’s Office reports have “several” thefts from vehicles occurring in Milford Center on Friday morning as well.
Chief Deputy Tom Morgan said four vehicles were broken into on Greenfield Drive Friday morning. Items stolen included change, Bluetooth headphones, medication and a wallet.
“We’re working with the Marysville Police Department on this investigation,” he said. “We believe they’re all connected.”
School Chromebooks and wallets were two sought-out items for thieves breaking into Marysville vehicles last week.
Late last week, Marysville Police reported a string of thefts from vehicles on Restoration Drive, Damos Way, Lakeside Circle, Damascus Drive, Chariot Way, Bridle Drive, Arabian Drive and Milstone Drive. These thefts likely occurred Wednesday and Friday morning officials said.
Marysville Police Chief Floyd Golden said as of this morning no arrests have been made, and the incidents are still being investigated.
According to a list of the thefts provided by the Marysville Police Department, four Marysville School-issued Chromebooks, laptops given to students to aid in schoolwork, were taken from cars on Restoration Drive, Damos Way and Chariot Way.
Four wallets were taken from cars on Restoration Drive, Bridle Drive and Milstone Drive.
Two handguns were also stolen, one from Lakeside Circle, and another from Damos Way.
According to the list, thieves broke into a total of 17 vehicles. Golden said there was a string of similar of thefts in Hilliard, Powell and Delaware County.
He said authorities are still determining if those incidents are related.
Last week, Golden told the Journal-Tribune that residents should avoid leaving valuable items in their cars, especially firearms.
“You don’t blame victims or anything, but we give people advice so they don’t become victims,” Golden said.
