Marysville is losing a sporting goods business.
Employees at Dunham’s Sports, 15715 U.S. 36, confirmed this morning the store would be closing Jan. 14.
“That’s our last day open,” said a local employee who did not want to be identified. “That’s all I can really say.”
Dunham’s Sports officials told the Journal-Tribune the decision was made based on an increase in the cost to lease the store location.
Corporate officials were unavailable for comment.
Based in Troy, Michigan, Dunham’s Sports markets itself as “the Midwest’s largest sporting goods chain.”
The brand began in the 1930s in West Bloomfield, Michigan, and now has more than 230 stores in 22 states.
According to the company, each of the stores “offers a full line of traditional sporting goods and athletic equipment as well as a wide variety of active and casual sports apparel and footwear.”
The Dunham’s Sports website does not allow customers to purchase products online.
