The Village of North Lewisburg held a brief meeting to keep up with an old, recurring ordinance and resolution Tuesday night.
The meeting opened up with a moment of silence for the fallen police officers in Westerville and for all officers in Chicago.
The council unanimously passed a resolution that would allow the village to authorize the sale of public vehicles and equipment through the internet and an ordinance adopting and enacting American Legal Publishing Corporation’s Ohio Basic Code and declaring an emergency.
“It’s something we have to do every year,” village administrator Andy Yoder said. “It’s to pass a resolution over and over to get that done.”
The resolution is intended for the village to be able to sell its old, obsolete equipment, such as road machinery and other supplies, through internet auctions. The resolution covers equipment valued at up to $2,500 via a purchasing program through the Ohio Department of Administrative Services.
The ordinance allows the village to adopt a more updated list of Ohio basic codes for the village’s use. Yoder said there is nothing changed with the codes compared to last year.
“We adopt it every year,” he said. “There are no changes from what we’ve historically done in the past.”
There was a new ordinance enacted, which allows village fiscal officer Jennifer McCombs to reside outside of the North Lewisburg’s corporation limits.
Mayor Cheryl Hollingsworth said, under Ohio Revised Code, the fiscal officer had to reside under “the village proper” to hold the title.
“Ms. McCombs has a North Lewisburg address, but she lives outside the corporate boundaries,” Hollingsworth said. “She’ll pay village taxes and things like that, so I just needed an ordinance to allow that to happen.”
Toward the end of the meeting, resident Rissa Collier talked about a scholarship fundraiser that will be held at Cardinal’s Pizza. The fifth annual pizza sampler will he held from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Feb. 26.
