A bomb threat at Memorial Hospital this weekend was quickly debunked, but Marysville Police are still investigating.
According to Marysville Police Chief Floyd Golden, somebody called into the hospital’s security office at about 1:37 a.m. Sunday claiming there was a bomb in the building.
Police and fire officials responded to the call and searched the building. They found a backpack under a desk, but quickly determined an employee left it there from a previous shift.
“Nothing was found,” Golden said.
A K-9 unit was called from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, which also searched the hospital and found nothing. According to Golden, there was no evacuation of the building.
“There was no real disruption of hospital services,” he said.
Authorities will continue to interview those involved in the incident, and Golden said police will try tracing phone number back to a source.
