Marysville was just one stop on a stolen vehicle chase that began in Delaware and ended in Springfield Monday morning.
According to Sgt. Ty Skaggs of the Delaware Ohio State Highway Patrol post, at about 2:47 a.m. a trooper attempted to stop a 2012 Dodge Avenger for speeding on U.S. 23 near Route 315. The vehicle fled and after running the plate the trooper found that it had been stolen from Dayton.
Skaggs said the chase went into Franklin County and made its way up U.S. 33. According to Marysville Police Deputy Chief Tony Brooks, the vehicle exited U.S. 36, made its way down Delaware Avenue and Fifth Street and turned on Maple Street. Police lost the driver before picking the chase back up on London Avenue.
The chase continued on Route 38 and Skaggs said authorities pursued to the area of London before they backed off and allowed a police helicopter to follow the vehicle.
The occupants, who were four juveniles, exited the vehicle in Springfield and the helicopter notified local authorities. The suspects were quickly arrested.
Skaggs said one of the juveniles was a 17-year-old male, but had no information about the other three. Charges are pending against the juveniles.
