Residents woke up to a blanket of white this morning as snow covered Union County and much of Central Ohio. About 6 a.m., Union County Sheriff Jamie Patton declared a Level One snow emergency for the county. Snow is expected to continue through at least noon with high winds through the evening. The area is under a winter weather advisory until 8 p.m. At right, Plain City Public Works Supervisor Ryan Huff was one of many plow drivers on the streets early this morning to make the streets safe for drivers. Despite the efforts of snow warriors, school districts in Union County are closed for the day. Today is Marysville’s seventh calamity day for the school year. Officials have said the district will not have a make-up day or blizzard bag assignment for today, however, because of the number of calamity days already used, school will be in session April 2, as a calamity make-up day. Jonathan Alder officials announced today the district will also have classes April 2 as a result of the calamity days. Officials with the Marysville schools’ stadium project canceled a scheduled community event scheduled for tonight, fearing the impending weather would keep many families from coming. The Monarch Stadium Preview Event has been rescheduled for 6:30 p.m., April 10, at the Marysville High School’s Alumni Hall entrance. Project organizers will offer a presentation and preview of the Marysville High School and Bunsold Middle School stadiums.
